What is Henna

Henna is a flowering plant called Lawsonia Inermis. When the leaves from henna are crushed together it releases hennotannic acid (the red-orange dye) known as Lawsone that binds to the keratin in our skin, it’s completely natural and safe on most skin types.

Henna paste is simply dried and triple sifted henna powder (leaves) then added with water, lemon juice, essential oils like tea tree oil and sugar. The leaves after mixed with these ingredients is ready to application after the dye releases. This paste after applied on the surface of skin, nails or even hair flakes off releases a natural red dye into your skin which can last days on skin and nails and semi/permanently on hair.

What ingredients are in my Henna paste?

Henna plant powder, lemon juice, water, sugar & tea tree oil.

What can you do to help your henna stain come out dark as possible?

A few tricks I’ve learned with henna.

  • Avoid water after henna paste application for 8+hours

  • Use fresh paste on clean hands

  • Henna stains darker on warm skin. After and before application hold your hand near heat.

  • Use lemon juice sugar spray to seal the henna design.

  • After washing the paste off apply oils or shea butter to keep your skin hydrated over the applied area.

How long does a henna tattoo last on your skin?

On average the stain will last 7-11 days or longer depending on your skin type, were on the body its applied & how often you wash your hands.

(Right now through COVID-19 henna last and looks best on hands for only 3-4 days)

What color does henna stain on your skin?

Henna naturally stains the skin a only a deep reddish brown, red or a light orange. The variation in color depend upon your skin tone, skin type, where the henna is applied and how long you leave the paste on your skin. The first day after henna removal henna appears a bright orange stain and gradually darkens to a deep red color within 48hours. There is no such thing as black or white henna.

HOW LONG CAN THE HENNA PASTE LAST?

Henna paste can last 4 - 6 months in the freezer. Thaw henna cone 15 mins before use and doodle away. Refreeze and store after use.

CAN YOU DYE YOUR HAIR WITH HENNA?

Yes, you can. Our henna paste is made for the skin only and not recommend on hair. However Henna is known to be used as hair dye for centuries.

IS HENNA SAFE FOR PREGNANT WOMEN?

In my experience henna has been absolutely safe for expecting moms. Most relax and enjoy a therapeutic experience in 10 years of henna it’s been a hit at baby showers and for guest. It’s a beautiful way to celebrate a growing life and adorn a baby belly. If you have any concerns please consent with you doctor or take a patch test.

HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE DESIGN?

You can not remove the henna design after it stains. The stain gradually fades away as your skin exfoliates. The time it takes to fade completely away varies on an individual basis. If you would like it to fade faster, you can exfoliate your skin, although there are no quick removals. Don’t worry the stain is not permanent and will only last 7-10 days max.

WHAT IS BLACK HENNA AND IS IT SAFE?

There is NO SUCH THING AS “BLACK HENNA” henna dyes that stain the skin black usually have chemicals mixed into the solution and they are harmful to your skin. Always say NO to henna if you are unsure of the ingredients. Black or unnatural henna can lead to permanent chemical burns.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR THE HENNA PASTE TO DRY?

20 - 25 minutes. Recommend time to leave paste on the skin 6-8 hours.

HOW DO I TAKE THE PASTE OFF?

Some will naturally flake off, which is ok if it happens. The paste contains sugar so it will feel stuck to your skin. You can gently pick off the dried henna paste with your nails then rinse with warm water. Pat dry and hydrate skin with oils or shea butter after removal.

Yes it is semi permanent, nails stain a reddish brown and grow out/ fade as your nail grows.
